Fire or explosion is a constant threat in the Mining business.

There are stringent safety regulations in place to help mitigate this risk to life and property. Its is useful to point out that the term fire protection refers to a system that is designed to protect an asset from the effects of fire as opposed to a fire extinguishing system that will hep put our fires or a fire prevention system that helps stop fires from occurring in the first place.

Bete produce a specialist range of spiral nozzles (the N series) for fire protection systems. These combine fine droplets with the excellent spray reach and impact needed to work through the often strong thermal currents generated by fire. The combination of small and large droplets from these nozzles means the cooling power of small droplets can be delivered to fire by effectively being carried by the larger droplets. The N series of fire fighting nozzle have been approve by Lloyd’s, FM and UL.

Spiral nozzles for Fire Extinguishing Systems

These nozzles produce a relatively fine spray with low medium droplet size. This gives them great cooling power. But the spectrum of droplet sizes is also larger than most nozzles. This makes them ideal for fire protection systems as the heavier droplets act to carry the smaller droplets to areas they would otherwise fail to reach. This is particularly important in fire protection systems as the air currents caused by heat may simply blow very fine droplets away before they can act on the fire.

Misting Impingement Nozzles for Fire Extinguishing Systems

With this design of nozzle the fluid is ejected from the nozzle orifice and impacts upon a pin in the direct path of the water flow. This breaks up and disrupts the flow into a fine spray. This nozzle can produce the finest spray of any direct pressure nozzle making them suitable for many halon replacement fire extinguishing applications.

Air Atomising Misting Nozzles For Dust Suppression

By forcing fluid through very small orifice at high pressure sufficient turbulence is created to atomise the spray into a fine fog. At lower pressures such nozzle will form a mist. This makes these nozzles ideal for water misting fire extinguishing applications.

As these nozzles work by having a very small orifice they are prone to clogging. Effective flitration is thus important. Bete’s MicroWhirl range of small orifice misting nozzles are a suitable choice for many halon replacement/ water misting fire extinguishing systems.
